iF2066 "Sandstorms" Techno artists and orchestras eh? It’s a field a tuxedoed Jeff Mills has been dominating of late, but Carl Craig has been there too in the past. Remember the ‘Recomposed’ LP he did with Mo Von Oswald on Deutsche Grammophon a few years ago? He’s back at it again with this single for InFiné which unveils Craig’s long-mooted Versus project with Francesco Tristano and Les Siècles orchestra under the guidance of Francois-Xavier Roth. B-side Sandstorms is obviously the source material, his trademark spacey synths jettisoned in favour of strutting and jutting orchestral strings on a light peak time kick. A skittering VCO update veers back towards the Detroitian hi tech jazz CC has made his own. Music is pressed on an original beautiful blue coloured vinyl.
